Linen and rings and things!

A little under two months from the big day, all but five of the invites are finally out! We've been getting a lot of questions about what they're made of. It's heartening that people are curious because Linda, Cindy, and Rachel worked VERY hard on them - we estimate that we spent over an hour on each individual invite, all told!

The invite is linen, made stiff with fabric glue.We printed it using a cheap inkjet printer. The idea and instructions came from The idea and instructions came from this tutorial from Offbeat Bride, Rachel's main source for wedding inspiration. However, we did put our on spin on it in a couple ways. Instead of starch, we used the aforementioned fabric glue, Stiffy - the starch wasn't making it stiff enough to put up on fridges or hold in your hand. We also printed the border with the rest of the invite instead of painting a border; the paint we tried out didn't match as well as the border we used.

Some people have asked about the RSVP  deadline. We haven't set one, but the sooner you RSVP , the better. Once September rolls around, we will probably be bugging you to give us your answer if you haven't yet.

We've been doing plenty of other planning since our last update. Most recently, Jason and Rachel have chosen our wedding rings!

Rachel's wedding band is a stackable sterling silver peridot ring from Helzberg, where we also got her engagement ring.

Jason's is a Tungsten carbide band with green riverstone inlay. Neither of us can wait to wear them.

We're also getting mega-excited about our honeymoon- we just added tickets to Jay-Z and Kanye's Watch the Throne tour to our honeymoon registry. But we always go see shows together, so we're particularly excited about just spending a relaxing, unscheduled week together.

Rachel's mom Susan is hard at work on Rachel's wedding dress. We've got a couple different designs in mind:

We're not sure which of these designs will work out quite yet, but we know Susan will be sewing it and we know that it will be in hunter green satin.

This blog post is not the only update to the wedsite - check out the pictures section for some new pictures of Rachel and Jason and their families. If this is your first time here, be sure to check out our engagement pictures too. We've also added comment sections so that you further communicate with us.

Check back soon for more updates. We hope to see you in October!
